Ras Mosi, A Letter from Lisa
Evans Correctional Institution, South Carolina

Ras Mosi (Matthew Williams) is at the Evans Correctional Institution in South Carolina. He calls himself unique, though "a lot of people try to classify me, thinking I should fit into some stereotype. I'm half black, half white, often mistaken for being Hispanic." Of his art he says, "Nowhere on earth is it harder to find privacy than in prison. Be it for meditation, prayer, or just thinking, it's practically impossible....Not only is it crowded, it's loud. My art reflects a peaceful time finally found for thought and reflection, with themes that often take me far beyond the barbed wire fences. Though sometimes the subjects are close to home"
