Color marker and ink on paper
Ionia Maximum Facility, Ionia, Michigan
Sudan Paul Miller, (also known as Prince U.R. Sudan), imprisoned since 1978, works in ink, pastels, graphite, crayon, carbon paper, and marker on paper and manila envelopes. "It is in abstracts that I'm able to express myself the most," he explains. Of other artists he says, "I like Mondrian mostly, as I do Miles Davis and Mozart chamber pieces ....Jesus Rafael Soto's Cube of the Ambiguous Space is off the chain--very, very good." Art, he states, "keeps me sane. Keeps me from going crazy. Helps me deal with the depression, stress, tension, anxiety, loneliness."
